Dorothy
J. Oestreich
Concerto Competition Scholarship
In 2000, then CCO Board President Walter Oestreich established
a fund in memory of his wife Dorothy to directly impact the
future of aspiring young instrumentalists who contribute to
the quality and vitality of the fine arts Dorothy so loved.
The Dorothy J. Oestreich Concerto Scholarship Endowment provides
the revenue source that underwrites the cash prize awarded
to the talented winner of our annual CCO Concerto Competition,
held each December. In addition to the $500 Dorothy J. Oestreich
Concerto Scholarship, the winner also is invited to perform
their chosen concerto with the Concord Chamber Orchestra at
our March concert.
A panel of judges made up of Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra
musicians and CCO Music Director Jamin Hoffman has the task
of choosing one winner from a field of extraordinary young
musicians every December. The competition is open to string,
woodwind, brass and percussion players who reside in Wisconsin
and/or attend a Wisconsin high school, college or university
and are 25 years old or younger. We are pleased to be able
to offer this newly established scholarship and encourage
musical excellence among our state's finest instrumentalists.
Your contribution will help support and nurture the future
of music in our state through this competition. Donors are
acknowledged in each of our concert programs and all donations
are tax deductible.
Donations to the
DJO Scholarship Endowment fund the cash prize awarded to our
annual CCO Concerto Competition winner. For more information
on how you can make a tax deductible donation to this endowment
campaign,
