Eligibility
- This competition is open to string, woodwind,
brass, percussion and piano players age 25 or younger as
of December 1, 2007 who are residents
of Wisconsin and/or attend a Wisconsin high school, college
or university.
- Previous winners of the competition
are ineligible.
Deadline
- Mailed Completed application with $25
application fee must be received at 2745 S.
44th St., Milwaukee, WI 53219 no later
than December
1, 2007.
- Online application ends 10 p.m on December
1, 2007
Awards
- The winner will perform his or her concerto
with the Concord Chamber Orchestra in the Spring. Certain
Wednesday and/or Friday evening rehearsals will also be
required prior to the performances.
- A $500 prize will be awarded
to one winner.
- A $150 prize will be awarded to Second
Place.
- A $50 prize will be awarded to Third
Place.
Judging
- This competition will be judged by CCO
Music Director Jamin Hoffman, as well as two professional
musicians.
- The judges may elect not to choose a
winner. Their decisions are final.
- Each judge will provide a written
critique of the contestant's performance.
Repertoire
- Contestants must have an entire concerto prepared and
be able to play excerpts from different movements for the
audition.
- The piece must be an original work for orchestra, not
an arrangement; for any repertoire questions or if
the piece is not in the public domain, please contact the
CCO orchestra manager at 414-628-6018.
- If necessary, cut your music
to limit your audition to 12 minutes. ALL AUDITIONS MUST
BE LIMITED TO 12 MINUTES. The winner will perform his
or her entire piece in concert.
- You must have piano accompaniment
for the audition and will need to make your own arrangements
for this.
- Contestants must provide each
judge with a copy of the music. (photocopies are fine)
Scheduling & Location
- The competition will occur December
15, at 9:00 a.m at Nicolet High School, 6701
N. Jean Nicolet Road, Glendale. Maps and detailed directions
will be sent to applicants with a schedule.
- The competition begins at 9:00 a.m.
Auditionees play in 12-minute increments until we are done;
in most cases, the competition is done by noon. Be sure
to note on the application whether there is any time on
December 15 that you would not
be able to compete, though we cannot guarantee we will be
able to honor your request (in which case, your registration
fee will be refunded).
- A postcard confirming receipt
of your completed application will be sent by December
10; please call CCO at 414-628-6018 if you
have not received this confirmation. A schedule of audition
appointments and final details will be sent early December.
