We have used the beautiful Scottish Fantasy by Max Bruch as our springboard for a journey into the Scottish side of music. Our own Composer-in-Residence Dan Lawitts will also be venturing into his compositional kitchen to prepare a tribute to Gaelic cuisine – Haggis!

The magnificent dome of the Basilica will ring with music both old AND new as we are joined by the St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Lutheran A Capella choirs for our annual Christmas celebration!

In addition to the concerto chosen by our winner, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Edvard Grieg’s death by taking you on a trip from Norway all the way to the hostile wasteland of the South Pole with Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ haunting Symphony No. 7 (“Sinfonia Antartica”), which chronicles the doomed voyage of explorer Robert Scott.

The CCO and the Master Singers of Milwaukee will bring our 2007-08 season to a close with Leonard Bernstein’s visionary effort to explore the spiritual crisis of his time.
