We have used the beautiful Scottish Fantasy by Max Bruch as our springboard for a journey into the Scottish side of music. Our own Composer-in-Residence Dan Lawitts will also be venturing into his compositional kitchen to prepare a tribute to Gaelic cuisine – Haggis!

The magnificent dome of the Basilica will ring with music both old AND new as we are joined by the St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir, and Lutheran A Capella choirs for our annual Christmas celebration!

In addition to the concerto chosen by our winner, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Edvard Grieg’s death by taking you on a trip from Norway all the way to the hostile wasteland of the South Pole with Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ haunting Symphony No. 7 (“Sinfonia Antartica”), which chronicles the doomed voyage of explorer Robert Scott.

The CCO and the Master Singers of Milwaukee will bring our 2007-08 season to a close with Leonard Bernstein’s visionary effort to explore the spiritual crisis of his time.
